Who is Mint Discs
Mint Discs is one of our local disc brands here in South TX. Located in Austin TX, just a little north of us here in Cibolo, they have made a really big name for themselves.
Mint Discs really took their time getting started and built a brand around quality and community. If I remember correctly they ran with just one disc, the Alpha, for about 2 years before adding more molds to their line up. This really allowed them to focus in a special way.
Having only one disc to focus on meant that with every realease of a new run, they could really break down the flight characteristics. Rather than focus on the 4 number flight system (which they do have still) they put their focus on real life testing. They would test each color of each run and make charts that showed their fans exactly how that run was flying, and even how each color within that run was flying. It was super cool, unique and very helpful. It did create some misconceptions that Mint Discs was unique in the fact that their discs flew different by color and run, but the reality is just that Mint Discs was taking the time to report those differences. This is further confirmed by the fact that now that they have a full lineup of discs to manage, they no longer break this down for each run. It would most likely just take way too much time.
The discs
Mint Discs is a brand based out of Austin TX, and their discs are manufactured by MVP Disc Sports. This is a huge selling point as MVP is well known for their high quality discs made with premium plastic. MVP is the same manufacturer behind the production of Axiom, Streamline and the Thoughtspace brands. All of these discs are right up there with the best our industry has at this time.
Mint has done a great job of creating a community of fans and keeping all their releases fun. From creative teasers on their social media outlets, fun stamps on each release including a lot from local designers and fans, and a constant flow of well loved tournaments ran all year long, Mint keeps it interesting and engaging to be a fan.
