Collection: MVP Orbital

The MVP Orbital is a fast, maximum-understable 11-speed distance driver engineered for effortless turnover lines, massive tailwind distance, and long-carrying roller shots. Featuring flight numbers of 11 | 5 | -4.5 | 1, this highly responsive mold requires minimal arm speed to unleash full distance flight paths.

How the MVP Orbital Actually Flies

If you are trying to picture how the Orbital handles out on the course, think of it as a more understable brother of the Axiom Wave, or a premium GYRO version of the legendary Innova Mamba. Operating on an ultra-understable factory flight rating of 11 | 5 | -4.5 | 1, this is officially the flippiest mold in MVP's distance class.

Out on the fairway, here is what you can expect based on your arm speed:

  • For True Beginners: While the Orbital is a very easy to throw distance driver it's 11 speed rim may still keep it from being a great option for a true beginner that's only hitting about 7 speed throws. That being said it is one to keep your eye on as you try to grow into distance drivers and it may still hold value as a higher speed disc that doesn't want to dump as fast as more overstable options. Now in Fission plastic and in lower weights, even a true beginner might be able to get some nice flights with the Orbital.
  • For Amateurs and Lower Arm Speeds: This very well might be your cheat code maximum-distance tool. If you have clean form but don't possess local pro power, throwing the Orbital flat will let it hold a massive, high-speed sweeping turn down the fairway before gently finishing back to center. In a tailwind, it will catch the air and sail forever.
  • For Intermediate to Advanced Arms: This disc becomes a pure utility shot-shaper and finesse tool. If you rip on it hard and flat, it is going to turn over completely and burn into the grass. Instead, drop it on a steep, almost vertical hyzer line—it will perform a breathtaking 90-degree hyzer flip, pop completely flat to smoke a low-ceiling gap in the woods, and still push right. It is also one of the easiest out-of-the-box roller discs on the market.

Hand Feel and Shape

Featuring MVP’s signature ultra-flat flight plate configuration, the Orbital has an exceptionally slender and aerodynamic feel in the hand. The rim depth sits perfectly in a power grip without feeling uncomfortably wide or overbearing. Thanks to the patented GYRO Overmold Technology—which places a denser, heavier plastic on the outer edge—the Orbital maintains its high-velocity spin for a prolonged period, helping buffer its extreme understability so you retain total control over your release angles.

The Orbital is really going to shine as a super understable driver that is easier for lower arm speeds to get into or a big turn over or roller game for bigger arms.

MVP Orbital FAQ

Is the MVP Orbital a good disc for beginners?

It is for a beginner that is growing into distance drivers. It is widely considered one of the best entry points into high-speed drivers for developing players. Most 11-speed discs require intense arm speed to keep from immediately crashing left, but the Orbital's massive -4.5 turn helps lower-power players achieve a straight, long-carrying flight path right away. Getting one in Fission plastic and light weight really increases the chance of a lower arm speed getting major value from it.

How does the Orbital handle headwinds?

It does not. Throwing an ultra-understable driver like the Orbital directly into a headwind will almost always cause it to instantly turn over, dive into the ground, and cut-roll. When the wind picks up, you'll want to put the Orbital away and reach for an overstable driver like a Photon or Phase instead.

What discs are similar to the MVP Orbital?

If you have ever thrown an Innova Mamba, a Discraft Thrasher, or a Streamline Jet, you will be very familiar with this flight path. The Orbital fits directly into that maximum-turn, maximum-glide distance driver category, with the added benefit of GYRO edge weighting for a cleaner finish.
