Real-world glow brightness comparison test of Discraft Mega Glow, Innova Proto Glow, and MVP Eclipse disc golf plastics.

Which Glow Disc Lasts Longest? Brand Comparison

Every fall, as daylight disappears, disc golfers ask the same question: "How long will this glow disc actually stay visible in the dark?" To find out, we tested several discs that stood out in our own experience and community discussions, along with a few other glow options for comparison.

For the test, we used a standard UV flashlight in a dark room and tracked how bright each disc was at the initial charge, roughly 1 minute, and roughly 5 minutes. Here’s what we observed about each disc’s brightness and how well it retained its glow.

1. Innova Proto Glow Champion (Tested: Wraith)

Innova's new Proto Glow premium blend showed a strong performance. It remained bright and easy to see through the 1-minute and 5-minute marks. It represents a significant step up in brightness and longevity from their older materials. This disc was ordered from Innova in September 2026.

2. Discraft Mega Glo (Tested: Halloween Buzzz)

The Discraft Mega Glo brightness levels sat right alongside the top-performing premium categories, holding its charge nicely over the 5-minute span. This is definitely a major step up from their older glo plastic. This is the 2026 Halloween Buzzz release.

3. Axiom Eclipse (Tested: Vanish)

MVP's Eclipse compound has long held an industry reputation for longevity and brightness. Our testing verified that it continues to deliver excellent, high-intensity output through the full 5-minute marker. However, our data indicates that the gap between these glow options appears to have narrowed, as the Vanish, Buzzz, and Wraith all finished our test relatively neck-and-neck. We believe this disc was ordered from MVP in 2025.

4. Innova DX Proto Glow (Tested: Roc)

The DX Proto Glow material initially activated with high visual brightness, staying pretty bright through the 1-minute mark. However, it experienced a heavy drop-off by the 5-minute mark, leaving it noticeably dimmer by the end of the test. This disc was just received from Innova this year, September 2026.

5. Kastaplast K1 Glow (Tested: Nord)

While Kastaplast used to set the standard for glow golf longevity, our testing indicates how much the broader market has advanced. The K1 Glow material showed lower brightness levels right from activation and faded noticeably faster than the other premium discs we tested. This disc was ordered from Kastaplast last year, 2025.

🔍 Multi-Brand Group Comparisons (5-Minute Group Track)

To provide broader context, we also compared several glow discs together in a dark room. Charging every disc equally was difficult, and the camera made discs with some remaining glow appear brighter in the photo than they looked in person. For that reason, this five-minute group photo is better used as a rough comparison of which discs retained their glow and which had faded substantially, rather than an accurate representation of their brightness in person. For a clearer look at each disc’s performance, refer to the individual photo tests above.⠋

The Elevation Glow plastic tested on this year's Glow Koi held up exceptionally well and holds its own right along with the other industry leaders, and it is the newest glow release we have received from them, September 2026. The other brands’ glow plastics, as you can clearly see in this photo, lose their charge much faster in comparison. The discs at the top left are the  Discmania Lumen Function and Mint Discs Mustang. The Lumen Function was ordered from Discmania sometime this year or last year (2025-2026) while the Mustang was ordered last year (2025). While I have not seen any reports of their glow recipe changing, it is worth noting that these are slightly older runs. The Moonshine Fuse was also ordered sometime in 2025-2026.

Multi-brand disc golf glow comparison at 5 minutes in pitch black

Our findings confirmed that standard glow offerings from brands such as Latitude 64, Dynamic Discs, Discmania, and Mint Discs all experienced rapid brightness decay over the 5-minute window, similar to the Kastaplast Nord.

The notable wildcard of the group tracking was Elevation Disc Golf. Their unique rubber formulation (as seen on models like the Elevation Koi) maintained a highly competitive, active charge that held its ground comfortably alongside the premium tiers of Innova, Discraft, and MVP. The Final Verdict

When selecting your glow discs for night rounds or joining us out for Friday Night Doubles in Cibolo, TX, you no longer need to restrict your choices to a single brand for visibility. Because the premium options from MVP, Innova, Discraft and Elevation all offer highly comparable light longevity, players have many more options than years ago.

Make sure to keep checking back as we plan to run some more tests, including more specialized glow runs like MVP's Particle Glow, as well as more stock glow like Discraft's Seasonal Glo.
