Inside "Discraft Refresh": New Visual Layout and Enhanced Grip

Big news for disc golfers! Discraft just announced "Discraft Refresh," a major update to their two most recognizable plastic blends, Z and ESP.

If you love your current Discraft discs, don't worry. The molds have not been changed. Your favorite drivers, midranges, and putters will fly exactly the same. Instead, this brand-wide update focuses entirely on making the discs look cleaner on the shelves and feel better in your hand right out of the box.

Better Look, Better Grip

The Discraft Refresh introduces a totally modernized design language and a more consistent manufacturing finish.

• Cleaner Stock Layout: The new stamps look crisp and organized. Every detail on the face of the disc has a clear position and purpose.
• Shelf-Ready Mold Names: The disc name is now much larger and stands out immediately. This makes it incredibly easy to find your favorite mold when looking at discs sitting vertically on a retail store shelf.
• Connected Design Language: Z and ESP lines now share a matching visual style, making the whole Discraft family look unified while keeping their unique plastic types.
• Two-Foil Signature Treatments: Select ESP Signature discs will feature beautiful two-foil hot stamps. This gives extra visual separation to the player's name and the disc identity.
• Improved Hand Feel: Discraft has refined the final finish of the plastic. Both Z and ESP now offer better consistency in feel and an improved grip right out of the box.

 

 

Frequently Asked Questions About the Discraft Refresh

Will the new refreshed look change how my discs fly?
No. Discraft has confirmed that all original mold shapes remain identical. Refreshed versions of the Buzzz, Zone, Raptor, and other molds will have the same flight characteristics you expect. 

Why were the flight numbers changed on some discs?
The flight numbers have been updated on some of the discs to better describe the differences between discs. Flight numbers are best used as a relative comparison between different discs within a brand, so Discraft wanted to update some of the numbers to make these comparisons more useful. But the molds were not actually changed. At the time of this post, after looking through pictures of all the Refresh disc, the only disc with updated numbers appears to be the Archer. New numbers sit at 6 | 5 | -3 | 1. 

Is Discraft discontinuing old Z or ESP plastics?
This update replaces the older stock stamp designs. Moving forward, new production runs of Z and ESP will automatically feature the improved grip texture and design layout.
